Eleazer Darby was born in Canterbury, CT, the son of James Darby Sr & his wife Eleanor Shepherd. James & Eleanor were among early settlers of Canterbury. Eleazer married Anna Doubleday & their children are shown in the Congregational Church Records.
Rufus who married Dorothy Morgan, Joseph who married Anna Grow, dau of Thomas & Experience Goodell Grow, & several daughters.
Eleazer's wife had apparently died after the 1790 census of Canterbury, but before the trip to Cortland NY he made with son Joseph & wife Anna Grow Darby.
Anna's sister was married to Rev. Alfred Bennett & many of her brothers & sisters migrated to Cortland NY in 1802, to help Rev. Alfred Bennett with the ministry of the newly formed Homer Baptist Church.
Anna Grow Darby died in 1806 & Joseph remarried to Asenath Tyler in 1807. His Father Eleazer died in 1813 & his tombstone in the Farm Cemetery seen from the John Keep Farm on the East River Hill, proudly notes that he was born in Canterbury, CT.
