Emanuel Gentzler was born on August 21, 1853, with his twin brother Jesse, to the proud parents Jacob and Barbara Emig Gentzler. Emanuel was the 4th child born to the couple out of 6 children. His siblings include Elizabeth, Mary, Michael, Jesse (his twin) and Harriet. Emanuel's mother Barbara died on April 10. 1960. His father Jacob remarried on May 2, 1861. Jacob married Theresa Harbold. They had children together. Emanuel's half siblings include Alice Jane, Sarah Catherine, Barbara Ellen and Rebecca N. Gentzler.
Emanuel met and married Alice Margaret Myers. They married on May 27, 1877 in York, Pa. They had the following children together, George Washington, Mary Jeanetta, Susan, William N., Harry Winfield, Paul, Myrtle G., Paris Enjames and Gilbert Gentzler. Emanuel and Alice separated in the early 1900's. At 1910 Alice was living with her youngest children, Harry, Paul, Mytle and Clyde. They lived at 338 North Plum St., Lancaster Pa. They separated due to excess drinking on Emanuel's part. By 1920 Emanuel and Alice were divorced. After the divorce Emanuel moved with his daughter Mary and family in Hellam, Pa. He lived with them from 1920 - 1930. Emanuel moved with his son Harry who owned a farm at River Corner, Conestoga. He lived with his son and family for a couple years. Sadly Emanuel died on March 13, 1932. He died of Lagrippe (Influenza) that he had for 3 days until his death. Alice died on February 26, 1923. They are both buried together in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. Alice has a stone. Emanuel is buried next to her however, he don't have a stone.
