Barton C. Allen, age 82, of Dushore, PA and formerly of New Albany, PA passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Bradford County Manor, West Burlington, Township, PA.
Barton was born on the family farm in New Albany PA on November 3, 1931 a son of the late Beebe Chapman & Aza Flora Crawford Allen. He married the former Nina Joyce Epler and she predeceased him in 1970.
Barton graduated from New Albany High School a member of the class of 1949. After graduation he worked on the family farm before entering the United States Air Force in 1956. He was honorably discharged in 1960 and then shortly after being discharged he went to work for Penn Dot and retired from there many years later.
Barton was a member of the Moxie Community Church. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting. In his retirement, he looked forward to his monthly dinners with his former co-workers from Penn Dot.

A son: Thomas (Amy) Allen New Albany, PA
Two daughters: Theresa Berry New Albany, PA Debbie (Errek) McComb New Albany, PA
Three Sisters: Doris (Pete) Peterson Raleigh, NC Ruth Johnson Horseheads, NY June (Erven) Crawford New Albany, PA
Six grandchildren: Amber (Robert) Cook Tara (Thomas) Dean Timothy Mosier Jr. Courtney McComb Paris Allen Jason Allen
Several great grandchildren and two special twin great granddaughters. Also surviving are numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his father in June of 1964 and his mother in September of 1973. Also by a brother, Charles Allen and a sister Grace Johns, and a great grandson, Austin Jordan Cook on October 29, 2009.
Funeral Services will be held privately on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, with Pastor Mike MacWhinnie officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks Memorial Contributions be directed to the Moxie Community Church, 391 Benjamin Road, Wyalusing, PA 18853 or the Dushore Fire Co Ambulance Association, PO Box 1, Dushore, PA 18614.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA 18853
