Paul Wilson Jones Jr., born March 23, 1934, in Ashland, Ore., to Edna Winifred (Gebhardt) and Paul Wilson Jones Sr., died Nov. 20, 2013, at the Oregon Veterans Home in The Dalles, Ore.
Paul is survived by his wife Connie; sons and daughters-in-law Paul Jones III and Debra of Lynnwood, Wash., and Brian Jones and Susan of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and grandchildren Samantha, Katharine, and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Carmen Lee Pearce.
Paul's family moved to Klamath Falls when he was a young child. He attended Riverside Elementary School and graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1952. He joined the Navy in 1953 and served on a submarine during the Korean Conflict. He received a medal for his military service. He was discharged from the Navy in 1957 and returned home.
Paul graduated from University of Nevada Reno in 1961. He met his future wife, Connie, in Reno. After their marriage, they came to Klamath Falls, where Paul used his business acumen, owning and operating Jones Unfinished Furniture and Jones Refinishing, and Oak Street Car Wash and Laundromat. He was always busy and enjoyed his work.
Paul was active in politics and elected to two terms on the Klamath City Council from 1979 to 1986. He was passionate about his volunteer work with Shriners. In 1982, he was elected Potentate of Hillah Shrine Temple. In 1985, he was appointed to the Board of Governors of the Portland Unit - Shriners Hospital For Children. He was also a life member of Klamath Lodge No. 77 AF & AM and York Rite Bodies.
