BAINBRIDGE Twp. - Albert's life began Apr 22, 1925, in Bainbridge Twp. Albert grew up in Bainbridge and graduated from Watervliet High School in 1943. He was a lifelong fruit farmer in Bainbridge who loved to help other farmers. He owned Weckwerth Orchard Equipment for more than 50 years selling spraying and harvesting equipment, retiring in 2004.

Albert was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Berrien County Farm Bureau, was past member of the Bainbridge Township Board of Review and the Michigan Horticulture Society of Grand Rapids. He loved going to the Benton Harbor Fruit Market, deer hunting and working beside his wife, Ruth.

Albert's loving family includes: a stepdaughter, Shirley Ross; two step-grandchildren, Mark Ross and Keith Ross; three sisters, Frieda (Art) Filter, Cecile (David) Paul, and Elsie Rantz; six nephews, Donald Weckwerth, Robert Walker, Ronald Walker, Richard Walker, Randel Walker and Arthur Filter; four nieces, Carol Shubinski, Cecila Lechnyr, Cathy Waldschmidt and Jane Martin; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Albert died Fri, Dec. 31, 2010, at Countryside Nursing Home in South Haven. His wife, Ruth, parents Otto and Theresa (Skibbe) Weckwerth, brother Carl, and a niece Judith Rantz preceded Albert in death.

Friends may visit with Albert's family from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 4, at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Funeral services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Jan. 5, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Bainbridge Twp. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.
