He grew up in Warroad, and graduated from Warroad High School in 1995. He lived and was employed in Thief River Falls for a year before moving back to Warroad where he was working at the Warroad Casino. Dustin loved to ski-snowboard, skateboard and was a Cub and Boy Scout.
He passed away on October 31, 1996, at the age of 19.
He is survived by his parents, Toni and Randy Black of Bemidji, two brothers, David Black of Thief River Falls, and Josh Black of Bemidji. Also surviving are his grandmothers, Delores Linder of Strathcona, and Mae Geer of Middle River, great-grandmother, Emma Shey of Karlstad, and grandparents, John and Christine Black of Middle River.
He was preceded in death by his father Daniel Linder and grandfathers, Arthur Linder and Roy Geer.
Interment will be at the First Lutheran Cemetery.
