Dunkirk Evening Observer - Tuesday, April 18, 1944, Dunkirk, New York it states JOHN DILL, FORMER BROCTON RESIDENT, DIED IN TENNESSEE: Portland, April 18 - Word was received Sunday of the death of John Dill at the home of his daughters, the Misses Margaret and Dorothy Dill of Kingsport, Tenn. He'd been a resident of Brocton for many years until he moved south to be with his daughters.
The body will be brought to Portland for burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The two daughters are coming with the body and his two surviving sons, Glen and Bert, together with Mrs. Glen Dill are driving to Portland for the funeral.
A son, John, was killed in the first World War and the American Legion in Brocton is named for him. In addition to those mentioned above he is survived by four sisters: Mrs. Helen Wilcox of Ossining, Mrs. O.W. Bennett of Westfield, Miss Harriet Dill of Westfield who is spending the winter in Winter Haven, Florida, and Miss Annie Dill of Westfield; two brothers, Frank of Westfiled, and George of Brocton.
