GENE E. FRANCIS
Gene E. Francis, 70, of Virginia Beach, died Sept. 17, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital. Mr. Francis, son of the late William and Leta Francis, was born in Moundsville, W.Va. He worked for the city of Virginia Beach for 23 years at Thalia Elementary School before retiring. Mr. Francis was also a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy with over 22 years of service. Mr. Francis is survived by his wife, Helen L. Francis of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Kandy Megyese and her husband, Robert, of Norfolk; a son, Kenton Francis of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Velma Riggs of Moundsville and Glenda ``Nean'' Basham of California; and a brother, Delbert Francis of Moundsville. He was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Arn, and three brothers, Wendell, Kenneth ``Bud'' and Ray Francis. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery in Virginia Beach by the Rev. Manning B. Harrell. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
