Rosella (Zirbes) Rudebusch, daughter of John and Katherine (Gergen) Zirbes, was born November 27, 1925 at Castlewood, South Dakota. She attended school in Castlewood and graduated from Castlewood High School and then attended St. Mary's College in Omaha, Nebraska. Rosie was employed at the Castlewood Post Office for six years and was united in marriage to Clinton E. Rudebusch on February 22, 1949. They lived in Castlewood and later lived in Bruce, South Dakota for a year before returning to Castlewood to her parent's farm in 1952. They purchased her family farm, which is a fifth generation farm. After Clinton's death in 2008 she lived in the Castlewood Assisted Living and later moved to the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Rosella died on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the age of 88 years.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. Rosella enjoyed gardening, cooking, babysitting her grandchildren and especially spending time with her family and friends.

Grateful for having shared her life are seven children, Rosemary (Roger) York of Watertown, SD, Rodney (Cindy) Rudebusch of Des Moines, IA, Roxanne (Al) Kangas of Watertown, Rochelle Rudebusch, Roger (Jeanette) Rudebusch, Randall (Glenda) Rudebusch, all of Castlewood, Bobbi (Jerry) Healy of Savage, MN; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother Francis "Jack" Zirbes of Watertown; three sisters, Mary Skallerud and Irene Zirbes both of Watertown and Stella Wiersma of Ft. Meyers, FL; three sisters-in-law, Donna Zirbes of Watertown, Jewell Zirbes of Farmington, MO, Shirley Zirbes of Stillwater, OK; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clinton, one grandson Mark, her parents, five brothers, Raymond, Clarence "Johnny", James, George, and Ralph "Butch" and one sister Marjorie Cordell.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Monday, February 10, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church in Castlewood. Visitation will be from 4PM to 6PM at the church on Sunday followed by a Rosary and Scripture Service at 6PM.
