Esther M. Ide, 105, of Pontiac, passed away Friday, May 09, 2014 at 12:10 a.m. at Asta Care Center in Pontiac, IL. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Pontiac, IL. Reverend James O. Wolfe III will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Pontiac, IL.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac, IL.

Esther was born on November 1, 1908 in Weston, IL, daughter of Delbert and Nicie (Hamilton) Alltop. She married Arnold L. Ide on March 22, 1942 in Graymont, IL. They were happily married until his passing in October 1969.

Esther is survived by one brother, Gale Alltop of Pontiac, IL; one sister, Velma Matter of Minonk, IL; two grandchildren, Michelle Ide of Noblesville, IN and Brandon (Keri) Ide of Elkhart, IN; and one great grandson, Austyn Ide, attending Purdue University.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold; one son, Gary Ide; six brothers, Joseph Alltop, Edward Alltop, Donald Alltop, Glenn Alltop, Delbert Alltop, and Ceril Alltop; three sisters, Ruby Goode, Erma Goode, and Marguerite Trent.

She attended rural grade school south of Graymont, IL and Palmers School in Chicago for X-Ray Technician.

Esther worked as Telephone Operator in Graymont before marrying the love of her life, Arnold Ide. She worked as a nurse for Humiston Haven (ASTA Care) for 15 years then cared for her mother during her last years before returned to nursing as home care nurse until mid-1990's.

Esther served as past President of Pontiac Business & Professional Women, past President of American Legion Auxiliary, past President of Cornell & Graymont Parent Teacher Association, was a Sunday School Teacher for 25 years at First Baptist Church, and Parliamentarian American Legion Auxiliary in Cornell. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pontiac, IL.
