Mrs. Walter McComas, 77, of 102 N.E. Third Avenue, died Friday at St. Joseph’s hospital. She was born May 1, 1895, at Lastrup, and had been an area resident here over 70 years. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic church, St. Juliana guild, Daughters of Isabella, Eagles and VFW Auxiliaries.

Surviving are her husband, Walter; three sons, William of Brainerd, Donald of Faribault and Walter of New Hope; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Franklin of Sunnymead, Calif., and Mrs. Dorothy Vandervest of Superior, Wis.; 25 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Ann Lindberg of Brainerd, Mrs. Helena Backlund of Duluth and Mrs. Berdena Kenneth of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two brothers, Herman and John Koering of Route 1, Ft. Ripley. She was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services are planned Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis church, the Rev. Dennis McEnery officiating and burial in Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call at Nelson-Doran Funeral home beginning Sunday noon. There will be an Eagles Auxiliary memorial service at 4 p.m. Daughters of Isabella rosary at 7:30 p.m. and parish rosary at 8 p.m. Sunday. Those desiring may give memorials to the 194th Bataan Memorial Fund.

The one son that preceded her in death was Sgt. James F. McComas, Bataan Death March survivor who went on to become a well-known police officer in Brainerd.
