Marie A. Bockenfeld, age 90, of Sunset Home, Quincy, (formerly of 1603 No. 22nd St.), died August 22, 2003 at 3:30 am in the Sunset Home.
Marie A. Bockenfeld | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home – Quincy, IllinoisShe was born December 2, 1912 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Anna Ahrens Klattenhoff. On November 27, 1935, she married Harry E. Bockenfeld in St. James Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1982.
Mrs. Bockenfeld was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid of St. James and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML). She attended St. James Lutheran Grade School, graduated from Quincy High School in 1930 and attended Gem City College. Mrs. Bockenfeld worked 17 years for the Illinois Collection Service and 11 years at Blessing Hospital. She retired January 1, 1978.
Survivors include a sister, Elaine DeWitt, Quincy; nieces and nephews Sharon Randall and her husband Russ, LaCanada, CA, Diane Kemner, Quincy, Darrell DeWitt, Phoenix, AZ, Sally Moore and her husband Ross, Quincy, Ronald Pfaffe and his wife Carol, Quincy, Tom Pfaffe, Quincy, Shirley Voorhis, Quincy, and Shirley Franks, Phoenix, AZ; and numerous great neices and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, five infant children at birth and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Pfaffe Bohannan.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 10:30 AM at St. James Lutheran Church with the Rev. Marlin Rempfer officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or St. James Lutheran School.
