Iris V. Blum died at her home in Branson, Mo., on Saturday, May 6, 2006.

She was born in Mount Moriah in 1916, the daughter of Melvin and Flossie (Phillips) Preston. She spent her early years in Mount Moriah and then moved with her family to Superior, Neb., where she graduated from high school.

Mrs. Blum pursued a cosmetology degree in St. Joseph where she met her future husband.

She and Roy W. Blum were married in 1936. They lived in St. Joseph where they owned and operated Blum Brothers Tavern.

They were active members in the Guy Hardin Class of Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Joseph.

In 1967, they moved to the Branson area where she managed Hann's Ice Cream Parlor at Silver Dollar City, retiring in 1980.

She attended the Branson United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Preston.

Survivors include her two daughters and son, Linda and Joe Ricketts, Bellevue, Nancy Zbierski, Topeka, Kan., and Dennis and Linda Blum, Oregon, Mo.; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Cremation was done under the direction of Whelchel Funeral Home, Branson, Mo.
There was no formal funeral service.
