Elizabeth Brost Burghart, 77, of Topeka died Thursday, Nov. 9, 1989 at a Topeka hospital.
She was born April 30, 1912 in Topeka, the daughter of John and Mary Ann Kisser Brost. Mrs. Burghart was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church and a former member of the church's Altar Society.
She was married to Albert P. Burghart on Dec. 27, 1930 in Aurora, Ill. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Halliwell, Kettering, Ohio, and Debra Smith, Topeka, six sons, Albert Burghart, Harold Burghart, Robert Burghart, Gerald Burghart and Richard Burghart, all of Topeka, and Donald Burghart, Junction City; a sister, virginia Arnold, Topeka; two brothers, John Brost and Sylvester Brost, both of Topeka; a half-brother, Jerome Desch, Topeka; three stepbrothers, Ronald Desch, Darrell Desch and Vincent Desch, all of Topeka; 26 grand-children; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Matthew Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Burghart will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at St. Matthew Catholic Church, where rosaries will be recited by Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. and the parish at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church Building Fund, 2700 S.E. Virginia; or to the American Cancer Society, Northern Area Office, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road, 66604.
