Maxine M. Gothe, 76, of Kingsford, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Maxine was born Feb. 17, 1927, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Lawrence and Freda (Klatt) Sleik. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1945 graduate of Iron Mountain High School.
She married Robert Gothe on April 27, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Maxine, along with her husband Bob have lived in Kingsford and have been members of American Martyrs Catholic Church. She was an active American Legion Post 363 of Kingsford Auxiliary member.
Maxine enjoyed many hobbies, including reading, gardening, cooking and will forever be remembered as a great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bob; a daughter, Patricia (Don) Kauppila of Marquette; five brothers, Douglas (Gloria) Sleik of Iron Mountain, Donald (Margaret) Sleik of Naperville, Ill., Oliver (Ardith) Paternoster of Sussex, Wis., Norman Paternoster of Iron Mountain and Terry (Dee) Paternoster of Boise, Idaho; two sisters, Sandra (Charles) Macy of Breitung Township and Sharon (Hans) Strom of Hubertus, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Martha Mae Sleik of York, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Kirsti (John) Way Jr. of Brentwood, Calif. and Zachary (Michelle) Kauppila of Jackson, lower Michigan.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Paternoster and Lawrence Sleik.
