Former Wishek, ND, businesswoman, Vangie (Ammon) Hensen died on June 24, 2008 in Everett, WA at the age of 87.

Evangeline Estella Meidinger, was born on May 6, 1921 in Fredonia ND to John J. and Emelia (Dobler) Meidinger. She graduated from Gackle High School and Bismarck Business College and moved to Wishek in 1941 where her family owned and operated Meidinger's Store.

She married Wilbert Ammon in 1946. Vangie continued to operate the store until she retired in 1975.

She married Walter S. Hensen, and made her home in Minneapolis and later St. Paul MN, until failing health brought her to Everett, WA to be near her family.

Vangie was a member of The Wishek Baptist Church, The Dorcas Society, Church Choir, Ladies Sextet, American Legion Auxiliary Homemakers Club, Chamber of Commerce, Wishek Golf Association, and was Treasurer for the 1973 Wishek Jubilee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walt, sister Marcella Burritt, brother Roland E. Meidinger and niece Andrea Meidinger Van Horne.

She is survived by her son Jon (Ronalee) Ammon, Everett WA; daughter Mary (Ron) Larson, Southampton, NY; grandchildren Jon Jay Ammon, Lakenheath England; Jeanine Moulton, Everett WA; Joshua Ammon, Bellingham WA; and Katie Florin, Minneapolis, MN; great-grandchildren Myka and Aaron Moulton, Everett WA; sister-in law Shirley Rolfs Meidinger, Jamestown ND; and nephew Dan Frey of San Diego CA. Her family will gather in Everett, WA in the fall to celebrate her life.

Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
