Esequiel "Sikey" McBride of Cubero passed away in the morning hours of Tuesday, November 29, 2005, surrounded by his wife and children.

A lifelong resident of Cubero, he died as he lived, with stubborn dignity.

Mr. McBride is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years Dora McBride; his six daughters Gloria Chavez and husband Jay, Rosanne Sanchez and husband Matt, Kathe Baker and husband Albert, Josette Marquez and husband Victor, Michelle Lucero and husband Robert and Mona Maslowski and husband Gabriel; his only son Marty McBride; his sisters Laca Benavidez, Dora Johnson, and Lila Dominguez; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Donaciano and Dometilla McBride; his sister Lucinda Tafoya and his brother Benito McBride.

A Rosary will be held at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in Cubero today, Friday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m., with a reception following in the church hall. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, in Cubero's Lady of the Light Catholic Church. A luncheon in his honor will follow immediately after the services. At 2 p.m. Mr. McBride will be accompanied by his family and friends to Grants Memorial Park to his final resting place next to his parents and his brother. He will be given a full military service entitled only to those veterans who fought for this country's freedom and were discharged honorably.

Pallbearers will be his son Marty McBride and his grandsons Matthew Paul Sanchez, Marc Cody Sanchez, Mike Lucero, Ryan McBride, Kegan Baker, Dillon Baker, Gabriel James Maslowski and Cory McBride. Honorary pallbearers are his brothers-in-laws Tranquilino Jr. and Miguel Padilla, his first cousin Walter McBride, his nephew Sonny Tafoya, his great-nephew Dugan Tafoya and life long friends Leon Tafoya, Corney Vigil and Billy Cunningham.

The family entrusted Direct Services for cremation.
