Funeral Rites Today For James Muscat, Gardner

James Muscat, 61, for 40 years a leading member of Lewiston's Italian colony and prominent gardener of Lewiston Orchards, passed away Monday at St. Joseph's hospital from a heart attack. A native of Italy, he came to the United States the same year he located in this section. For many years he was engaged in truck gardening in east Lewiston.

Mr. Muscat is survived by a widow, Minnie Muscat; four sons, Patrick Muscat, Seattle; Joe Muscat, Tony Muscat and James Muscat, Lewiston; six daughters, Mrs. Catherine Giardinelli, Asotin, Mary Muscat, Rosie Muscat, Frances Muscat, Irene Muscat and Margaret Muscat, all of Lewiston, and six grandchildren, Lucretia, Minnie and Jennie Giardinelli, Asotin; Virginia, Minnie and James Muscat, Lewiston.

Funeral services will be held this morning at 9 o'clock from St. Stanislaus church, the Rev. Fr. James A. Gilmore officiating. Interment will be at Normal Hill cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Vassar-Rawls chapel.
