Bernadine E. Groner, age 82, of St. Thomas, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was born in St. Anthony on April 14, 1931, daughter of the late Michael and Martha (Rehagen) Otto. On July 10, 1954 in St. Anthony, Bernadine married Raymond Groner, who survives of the home.
Bernadine was a homemaker and babysitter her whole life. She enjoyed quilting with the St. Thomas Quilting Group. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality of St. Thomas and also a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
She is also survived by three children, Mike Groner and wife Debbie, Jerry Groner and wife Barbara, and Jim Groner; seven grandchildren, Wendy Sullivan, Blake Groner, Vicky Buckner, Beth Groner, Emily Groner, Mary Groner, and Lucy Groner; one great-grandchild, Kingston Buckner; and four brothers, Victor Otto and wife Rita, Elias Otto and wife Marilyn, Fred Otto and wife Mary Ann, and Charles Otto and wife Bea; one sister, Cecilia Brand; and two sister-in-laws, Bernadine Otto and Christine Otto.
She was preceded in death by one son, Andrew Groner; three brothers, Emil Otto and wife Leona, Lawrence Otto, and Roman Otto; two sisters, Regina Herx and husband Roman and Rose Werdenhausen and husband Victor; and one brother-in-law, Louis Brand.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas. Fr. Jeremy Secrist will officiate. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Thomas Church.
