Leo Rudolf Raubal, Jr., was the son of Leo Raubal, Sr, and his wife Angela Hitler, the half-sister of Adolf Hitler.

Before World War II, Leo was a chemistry teacher and visited his mother from time-to-time when she was living in Berchtesgaden, Germany close to the Austrian border. Leo, like his cousin Heinz Hitler, were favorite nephews of Hitler and he enjoyed spending his time with them as well as Leo's sister, Geli Raubal. This favoritism for Geli resulted in Hitler falling for his niece and basically trying to lock her away for himself. Geli had a brief affair with her uncle's friend and chauffeur, Emil Maurice, causing Hitler to be even more controlling. Geli, in frustration, shot herself. Some sources say Leo was very bitter towards his uncle due to this while others say he was his uncle's protector.

Before the war Leo became a manager of the Linz Steelworks. But October 1939, he was drafted into the Luftwaffe and was appointed as a lieutenant in the engineering corps. As Hitler became more involved in his annihilation of the Jews and in waging war all across Europe, he used his nephew as a stand-in from time-to-time as Leo and Hitler had a similar appearance.

Leo was wounded in January 1943 during the Battle of Stalingrad. General Friedrich Paulus asked Hitler for a plane to evacuate Raubal to back to Germany but for reasons unknown to this author, Hitler refused. Raubal (as well as Paulus) was captured by the Soviets on January 31, 1943. An attempt was made to trade the Russian's Stalin's son, Yakov Dzhugashvili, who had been in German captivity as a prisoner of war since July 16, 1941. Stalin, reportedly was not fond of his son and refused to exchange him for Paulus. The offer was then made to trade him for Leo, but again, the exchange was declined. Stalin's son was later shot and killed by a German guard for refusal to return to his barracks.

After the war, Leo was detained in various Soviet jails and was finally released in September 1955, and returned to Austria. He took up his old profession of a teacher in Linz.

Leo died while on a vacation in Spain. He was buried on September 7, 1977 in Linz.
