Sylvester A. Domme Sr, 66, Topeka, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1988 at a Topeka hospital where he was a patient since Dec. 3. He suffered from cancer for several years.

Mr. Domme was a metal worker in the Santa Fe Shops for 27 years before he was retired in 1972 with a disability. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He served in the 91st Medical Casualty Treatment Battalion, participating in the Normandy, Northern France, Adrennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns.

He was born Oct. 29, 1921 at Topeka, the son of John G. and Mary A. Lauman Domme and lived in Topeka all his life.

He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Schools at Topeka. Mr. Domme was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 58 in Topeka.

He was married to Ruth E. Wagner on April 10, 1943 in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Jean McGinnis, Tecumseh and Mrs. Deborah Peet, Topeka; two sons, Sylvester A. Domme Jr, and Thomas Domme, both of Big Springs, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Tripp, Topeka, and Mrs. Helen Edgington, San Diego, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tibbitts-Griffin Highland Chapel. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery northwest of Topeka. Mr. Domme will lie in state from noon today until service time at the chapel, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today.
