Peter Anton Doemer was born in Rahrbach, Westfalia, Prussia (Modern Day Rahrbach, Germany) to Johann Peter Doemer (Spelled as Dömer in German) and Alosia Doemer (Wuesthoff). Johann is listed in the Catholic Church records as a Master Tailor. Peter Anton Doemer came to the U.S. by way of Antwerp, Belgium on the Belgian ship Maria on July 22nd, 1852. Records from Castle Garden confirms this although their names are misspelled as "Daemer". Peter and his wife Anna Elisabeth Doemer (Rueenaufer) came to Detroit with their first two children, Anna Elisabeth Doemer, and Heinrich (Henry) Doemer. Heinrich passed away shortly after arriving in the U.S. It is not clear if he made it to Detroit or not. Peter and Elisabeth had six more children after arriving in Detroit. Marie Josephine Doemer (Also died in infancy), Robert Rudolf Doemer, Anthony Doemer, John Doemer, Christopher Doemer (Died at the age of 3), and Josephine Augustine Doemer. After Peter's death, Anna remarried to William Springmann and had one, perhaps two children. The known child was Joseph Springmann. Peter is buried in Mt. Elliot Cemetery's free area, and there is no headstone marking his grave.
