Funeral services were held for Henry Bernhardt John Abbas, 59, who died on March 2 at Belmond Community Hospital, at Bethany Reformed church on Monday, March 6. Rev. Esdert Smidt officiated. Burial was in Belmond Cemetery. Quesenberry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Henry Abbas was born in Franklin county on October 24, 1918 to Hemmo R. and Anna Boheman Abbas. He was educated in a Franklin country rural school and was confirmed in the Evangelical Reformed church in Latimer.
On October 2, 1941 he was married to Dorothy Boelman at Alexander. Together they farmed at the present location since 1943. Henry was a charter member of the Bethany Reformed church in Belmond.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; one son, Gary of Des Moines; one brother, Carl of Frederika, and two grandchildren.
Casketbearers were Dennis Abbas, Duane Abbas, David Primus, James Boelman, Stanley Boleman, and Eugene Draper.
