Hilda Benedict was born on March 14, 1927 to John and Wilhelmine (Horstman) Bruns in Washington County, Colorado near Hyde, Colorado. She passed away at her home in Yuma, Colorado on March 25, 2014 at the age of 87.

Hilda attended school through the 8th grade in Hyde, Colorado. She met and later married Charles Jay Benedict on April 14, 1948 at the Parsonage at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yuma, Colorado. To this union four daughters were born, Mary, Wanda, Barbara and Ellen. Hilda and Charles were blessed with 54 years together before Charles passed away on June 22, 2002.

Hilda was a homemaker, wife and mother. Hilda and Charles painted for several people in the community. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends.

Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Benedict; parents, John and Wilhelmine Bruns; brothers, Rudy Bruns and Paul Bruns; sister, Wilma Smith and brother-in-law, Harley Smith; and daughter, Ellen Juranek.

Hilda is survived by her sister, Henrietta and husband, Walt Pratt of Moore, Oklahoma; daughter, Mary Stoops and husband, Richard of Sterling, Colorado; daughter, Wanda Moseley of Fort Morgan, Colorado; daughter, Barbara and husband, Sam Graton of Yuma, Colorado; sister-in-law, Eva Bruns of Akron, Colorado; sister-in-law, Alma Kohlmeier of Sterling, Colorado; brother-in-law, Harlan Benedict of Yuma, Colorado; grandchildren, Douglas Duff, Maria Duff and Hilda Moseley all of Fort Morgan, Colorado; Charles and May Moseley of Keenesburg, Colorado along with many other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Terry Buethe officiating. Interment followed at the Yuma Cemetery. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
