Mary (Knippling) Strahn was born in Iowa, the daughter of John Lambert and Kathryn (Wulfekuhle) Knippling, May 29, 1886.

Her name on her SD marriage certifcate # 47432 is "Mayme"..and on an Ancestry Tree, there's a middle name of "Josephine", along with date of death as March 30, 1976. SSDI doesn't list day, but is under the name "Mary".

She, age 28, of Buffalo Co., SD, married William M. Strahn, 39, of Vermillion, Clay Co., SD, June 15, 1915 at Stephan, Hyde Co. SD by Rev. P. Boehm, O.S.B. Catholic Priest.

In 1920, they were living in Vermillion, Clay Co., SD, and both employed as general merchandise clerks. Her name was "Mayme" on this census.

In 1930, they were still in Vermillion but she was listed as head of household and salesman in Dept. Store. He was shown as not working. A lodger, Jasper Sorenson 59, was in the household.

1935 SD Census shows him as a merchant. He was born in Kiron (misspelled Kairon) Iowa. Had gone to college and was married to "Mayme Knippling".
Her card shows she was born in Dubuque, Iowa.

William died in Clay Co., SD March 26, 1938. *SD Deaths, Certificate # 181062 pg 731.

Mary died March __, 1976. She was living in Gann Valley, Buffalo Co., SD., but may have died at a hospital in one of the surrounding counties.
