Lucille L. "Mema" nee Kolb Sonderman, 89, a longtime resident of Hawthorn Woods, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010, unexpectedly at her home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1920, in Forest Park. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers and nurtured her perennials. She was a wonderful cook and baker known for her cookies and apple pie. An enthusiastic student of the Bible, she loved her Lord and Savior. Devoted to her family, she was adored by all who knew her.
She is the loving mother of Charlene (Terry) Salte, Norm Sonderman, Janice (Brad) Sonderman-Banwart and Marc (Linda) Sonderman; beloved grandmother of Christine (Keith) Katsma, Jonathan (Jodi Gibb) Salte, Katherine (Rob) Salte-Nunez, Michael Salte, Jessica (Dan) Stahl, Nickole Banwart, Joshua Banwart, Phillip (Nicole) Sonderman and Rachel Sonderman; great-grandmother of Aiden Katsma, Noah Katsma, Kellan Katsma and Airiana Sonderman; and aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman H. Sonderman; her parents, Paul and Elsie (Seegers) Kolb; her sister, Florence Smith; her brothers, Robert Kolb and Karl "Nick" Kolb.
The visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m. Monday, June 14, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 24500 N. Old McHenry Road, Hawthorn Woods. The Rev. Ronald C. Moritz will officiate. Interment following in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery.
