Lillian Rose Walter, 95, of Sacramento, Calif., died there today. A longtime resident of Walla Walla, she was born March 27, 1888 in Umatilla County.
Funeral arrangments are pending at Herring Funeral Home.

Former Walla Walla Lillian Rose Walter, 95, of Sacramento, Calif., died there Tuesday.
Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Herring Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Catholic section of Mountain View Cemetery. Rev. Michael Krieg will officiate at both services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, St. Patrick Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
Mrs. Walter was born March 27, 1888 in Umatilla County to area pioneers Phillip and Elizabeth Poiriera Clark. She attended St. Vincent Academy in Walla Walla. In 1905 she entered a popularity contest and won a trip to New York City; this was a high point in her life.
She married John Walter in 1909 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Walla Walla, Washington.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Catholic church, Catholic Daughters of America and Court of Cecelia.
Mrs. Walter is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Vannet and Kathleen Goertz, both of Seattle, and Maribel MacLennan of Sacramento; five sons, Clark Walter of Seal Beach, Calif., Norbert Walter, Robert Walter and Frank Walter, all of Sacramento, and Joseph J. Walter of Fresno, Calif,; two sisters, Josephine Leisinger and Irene Murphy, both of Pendleton, Ore.; three brothers, Frank Clark of Portland, Ore., Robert H. Clark of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Leo Clark of Roseville, Ore [should be Calif.]; 30 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Sister Rose Madeline of the Order of Franciscan Nuns.
