Clarence H. Van Hoof, Town of Freedom, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 27, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 8, 1916, in Freedom, WI, the son of the late Matthew and Anna (Romenesko) Van Hoof. Clarence farmed the Van Hoof Homestead farm from 1938-1969. He worked with Van Hoof painting while farming. Following the sale of his farm he worked in maintenance for St. John School and Outagamie County Highway Dept.

Clarence was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Parish. He was involved in many parish activities. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing, playing cards, going fishing, but most of all; he enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He married Mildred Ann Ashauer, April 22, 1941; she preceded him in death on December 4, 1958. He married Mabel Fabry on September 28, 1963.

He is survived by his wife Mabel; nine children: Jerry (Pat), Combined Locks; Mary (special friend Wally), Appleton; Jeanne Middleton, Appleton; Bonnie (Gordy) Johnson, Cambria; Jack (Patti), Appleton; Joe (Dee), DePere; Ann (Dan) Devine, Kris (Bill) Lecker, Ron (Marlene), Appleton; 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Wally and Ken, Little Chute; a sister, Marie, Freedom; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Rose Corsten and Alice Huisman; and brother-in-law, Alvin Fabry.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred; his parents, Matthew and Anna Van Hoof; a sister, Evelyn Nackers; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Van Hoof and Florence Van Hoof; brother-in-law, Russell Nackers; sister-in- law, Evelyn Fabry; brothers-in-law, Tim Corsten, Clarence Huisman and Harry Fabry.

Clarence's Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2006, at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, N4088 County Trunk E, Freedom with Fr. John Schuetze officiating. Friends will be received on THURSDAY at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and again FRIDAY at CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.
