Thelma Jane Guse, 87, of Wanatah, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the VNA Hospice Center. She was born September 17, 1926 in Lafayette, IN to Gerald & Marie (Strain) Mennen and graduated from Shadeland High School. Thelma was a member of Hanna United Methodist Church, charter member of Evening Belles Home Extension Club, and past President of the Ladies Auxiliary Indiana Association of Soil & Water Districts for two years. She co-founded Guse Christmas Tree Farm along with her husband. Thelma became a strong and dedicated farm wife and mother supporting the cause with intellect or brawn depending on the need. She had no greater love than being with her family. On August 28, 1949 she married Howard W. Guse who preceded her in death in 2009. Survivors include their sons: Clifford (Bonnie) Guse of Wanatah, Brian (Kim) Guse of LaPorte, Glen (Julie) Guse of Washington, sister, Eleanor Wakeman of Union Mills, grandchildren: Carrie (Justin) Cusick, Jodie (Ken) Funkhouser, Jordan Guse, Peter Guse, Rennee Kaletha, Chad Guse & Todd Guse and three great grandchildren . She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Velma Redding, sisters: Helen Vander Kleed & Lucille Mennen and brothers: Donald & Paul Mennen.
