AIKEN ELEANOR VIRGINIA
Age 88, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully with family at her side, Sunday, December 11, 2005. Mrs. Aiken was born in Ellwood City, PA to the late Lee Kimes and Laura Pfannenschmidt Kimes.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Theron E. Aiken; two sisters, Dorothy Kimes and Ruth Kimes; one brother, Lee Kimes, Jr. ; one son-in-law, Edward Loyer. She was an active member of the Pittsburgh Presbytery and a commissioned Stephen Minister.

Eleanor was an accomplished artist, teaching painting classes throughout her life. She received her Associates Degree in Art from Allegheny Community College, Pittsburgh, PA.

She was a Volunteer with Girl Scouts of America and recipient of the highest volunteer award, the "Thanks Badge". She and her husband were among he first to participate in Pittsburgh's "Those Who Wait", a program that provides housing for people awaiting a kidney transplant. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, PA where she was a lay minister and active member for 50 years. Recently, she was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Chesapeake, VA. Eleanor and Theron were long-time members of Churchhill Valley Country Club, Pittsburgh, PA where they both enjoyed golfing.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Loyer of Ann Arbor, MI and Deborah Myers and her husband William of Chesapeake, VA; two sons, Theron E. "Ted" Aiken, Jr. and wife Barbara of Carnegie, PA and Jeffrey Aiken of Pittsburgh, PA ; one sister, Betty Lee Seaburn of Ellwood City, PA; also seven grandchildren: Chris Loyer, Tim Loyer, Josh Loyer, Laura Myers, Emily Myers, Mark Aiken and Elaine Aiken.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2006, at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church, 31 Warriors Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.

Burial follows the service in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, Pittsburgh.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church or Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 472 Battlefield Blvd., North Chesapeake, VA 23320.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of OMAN FUNERAL HOME, Great Bridge Chapel, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322.
