Marie Katherine Ocker Enninga, 102 of Mitchell, Nebraska passed away April 25, 2014 at Regional West Medical Center.
Her memorial service will be held May 3, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Marie was born on January 4, 1912 to Fredrick Christian Ocker and Gebka (Henrichs) Ocker. She was the 6th of 7 children who lived. She was born at her parent’s farm near Glenvil, Nebraska in Adams County. She was baptized, confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in German, west of Glenvil, NE. She walked to school with her sisters to a one room country school in all kinds of weather.On February 14, 1935, she married Reemt Henry Enninga, they first made their home near Fairfield, NE. Then later in February of 1951 they moved to her current home in the Sunflower community, where she has resided ever since. They had one child to this union, a daughter Joyce Conrad.She saw many changes in the world during her life time including two World Wars and several conflicts and travel going from horse and buggy to today’s high tech car and jets.She was an avid gardener, enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting. Marie is survived by her daughter Joyce Conrad and her husband Raymond; four grandchildren, Cynthia Conrad, Terry Conrad and his wife Lisa, Timothy Conrad and his wife Maribeth and Thomas Conrad and his wife Christina; seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Reemt and six siblings.
