He was baptized on March 14, 1937 by Rev. T.M. Mansur, and Confirmed in 1950 by Rev. Walter Wolf at Welcome Lutheran Church. He attended Concordia, Welcome, and Bellville High Schools.
Leslie was married to Vernell “Nellie” Hurtig October 12, 1957, in Welcome Lutheran Church by Rev. Walter Wolf. He worked for Sealy Mattress and Maddox Furniture, and in 1977 he opened up an upholstery shop called “Leslie’s”, which he operated for 31 years. He loved to dance, watch TV, fish, and go hunting in the Hill Country.
Leslie and Nellie had three sons, and their wives; Lorne Dale & Lori Jean Eben, Brian Allan & Lisa Fay Eben of Brenham, and daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Eben of Somerville, Texas, four grandchildren; Laura Elizabeth Eben, Lance Michael Eben, Deena Lee Ann Eben and fiancé Josh Brending, and Mitchell Allan Eben.
Survivors include wife, Vernell “Nellie”, brother and sisters-in-law; Clarence and Carol Eben, brother–in-law and sister-in-law; Ronnie and Barbara Hurtig, mother-in-law Mabel (Hurtig) Winkelmann, three nieces, two nephews, two nephews-in-law, two nieces-in-law, two great nieces, five great nephews, two step-sisters and their husbands and families.
Leslie is preceded in death by his son, Terry Wayne Eben on March 28, 2010, his parents, grandparents, father-in-law, step father-in-law, and an infant brother, Daniel.
