Richard Whaley Durr, Jr. ST. GEORGE, SC - R. Whaley Durr, 79, widower of Pearl Knight Durr, of St. George entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 9, 2014 at his residence.

Graveside funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday May 12, 2014 in the St. George Cemetery with Rev. Jakie Walters officiating with burial following directed by Bryant Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mark Fralix, Dickie Byrd, Roger Douglas, Denny Shuler, Curtis Burns, and Matt Grooms.

The Family will receive friends at his residence, 397 Farmers Market Road, Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 5 until 8 P.M.

Whaley was born November 24, 1934 in St. George, a son of the late Richard Whaley Durr, Sr. and Hazel Lillian Pendarvis Durr.

He was a Farmer and owner of Durr's Construction Company. He was a graduate of St. George High School, a member of St. George United Methodist Church, an avid horseman, bridge player and he loved to shag.

Surviving: a son, Michael Whaley (Alice) Durr; 2 daughters, Jeannie Sharon Durr, all of St. George, Jacqueline Alesia Durr (Karin Kilpatrick), of Charleston; grandchildren, Melissa Anne Durr (Curtis) Burns, Jessica Lauren Durr (Denny) Shuler, Lindsay Claire Durr (Matt) Grooms, all of St. George; great-grandchildren, Chase Way, Pearl Grooms, Cohen Shuler, Reagan Burns, Alyssa Grooms and Hollis Shuler; sisters, Naomi Anne Robinson, Orangeburg, Joyce Lillian Fralix, Sandra Irene (Tommy) Linder and Susan Dianne (Roger) Douglas, all of St. George.
