He was born in Boscobel, Grant County, Wisconsin to William Henry Martin and Josephine Loretta Lockman Martin.
He was a graduate of the University of Maryland with a major in Political Science. He served in the Army in World War II. He joined the Air Force when it was formed in 1948.
Mr. Martin had been a resident of Huntsville for 19 years. He was retired from the Air Force and employed with Missile Intelligence Agency at Redstone Arsenal.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Martin; two sons, Paul W. Martin of Huntsville and John C. Martin of Germany; two daughters, Sandra Williamson of Virginia and Vicky L. Martin of Huntsville; a sister, Priscilla Schneider of Wisconsin; and four grandchildren, Tara, Chane, Chris and Keli.
Two brothers and two sisters predeceased him; Homer William Martin; Wilbur Jean Martin; Harriet Josephine Eiseman; and Grayce Naella Cornwell.
