FUNERAL OF GE0RGE HOUGHTON

The body of George Houghton, arrived from Phoenix Ariz., Tuesday and the funeral services were conducted this morning from the Masonic Temple at ten o'clock. Interment was made in the Pleasant Valley cemetery, fourteen miles southwest of Chanute. Mr. Houghton was 79 years of age at the time of his death and for the past several years had been dividing his time between Kansas and Arizona having business interests In both places. He was born in Vermont and came to Kansas more than 40 years ago and took up a goverment claim south west of town. Later he moved to Chanute. He is survived by his wife, his son Edward Houghton of Chanute, Mrs. Hattie Fiel of Anthony, Kan., Mrs. Emmett Van Meter of Thayer. George Houghton, of Houston, Tex., and his son from Alva, Okla., were here to attend the funeral.
