Ella Leona Ferguson, 75, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Portage, MI, on Saturday, September 10, 2011, while surrounded by family.

Ella Helmreich was born in Bay City on February 28, 1936 to the late Harold Helmreich and Leona (Kernstock) Helmreich. On November 22, 1958 Ella married Victor W. Ferguson; they had 46 years together until his death on April 22, 2005.

Among her favorite hobbies were crocheting Afghan quilts for wedding gifts and baby showers. Her Afghans are still treasured by her family and friends. Ella also enjoyed baking homemade bread for her family. She lived in Hubbard Lake for 40 years before retiring from General Telephone Company in 1993. Mrs. Ferguson was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.

Surviving were 5 children, Lori Repotski and Gerard of Kalamazoo who Ella resided with her last several years, Victor Wayne Ferguson and Tami of Indianapolis, Indiana, David Ferguson of Alpena, Tina Liske of Smithfield, Virginia, Becky Burke and Edward of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Doris Feinauer of Garden Grove, California, Irene Hoppe of Bay City, Carol Seaver of Zilwaukee; and 2 brothers, Floyd Helmreich of Port Huron, Lloyd Helmreich of Bay City.
