Eleonora (Ellenora or Laura) was born in Schildeck, Bavaria, Germany. She married George Benkert on August 29, 1871 or 1872. Moved to the United States in 1887 and to Saginaw, Michigan in 1896.

Mrs. Ellenora Benkert, widow of the late George Benkert, died at the family home in Jamestown, Thursday of apoplexy, age 63 years. Ellenora Gaertner was born February 19, 1852, in Schildeck, Bavaria, Germany, where her younger days were spent. She was married to Mr. Benkert on August 29 in 1871. In 1893, they came to America, coming direct to Saginaw. Shortly after coming to Saginaw, they moved on to a farm in Spaulding Township, where they lived until 1896, when Mr. Benkert purchased the farm in Jamestown, which has since been the family home. She leaves seven sons and one daughter, Joseph; and Anthony, of Spaulding Township; Charles; Leo; Michael; and Frank, of Swan Creek Township; Anselm; and Miss Therese, living at home. Mr. Benkert died May 2, 1936. She also, leaves 23 grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, John Schuch, of Saginaw; Mrs. Frank Zein; Andrew Gaertner, of Germany; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lucas Gaertner.
The funeral will take place at 7 o'clock Saturday morning from the family home, and at 9 o'clock from SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. Rev. Edward LeFever will officiate, and burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery (obiturary says Oakwood).
