A funeral Mass celebrating Mildred's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church, Green Creek, Illinois with her nephew, the Rev. Dean Probst officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Help of Christians Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church with a 3 p.m. CCW rosary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary Help of Christians Church Renovation Fund. Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.bauerfh.com.
Mildred was born Jan. 7, 1913, in Lillyville, the daughter of Ferd and Minnie (Siemer) Wente. She married Arnold J. Bloemer on April 27, 1935, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1985. Their marriage was blessed with 12 children, Phyllis Haarmann of Effingham, Illinois; Bob (Mary Margaret) of Green Creek, Illinois; Norma (Don) Deters of Teutopolis, Illinois; Joe (Donna) of Green Creek, Illinois; Barb (Jim) Hoene of Sigel, Illinois; Mary (John) Hemmen of Teutopolis, Illinois; Paul (Debby) of Green Creek, Illinois; Art (Margie) of Green Creek, Illinois; Thomas Bloemer, deceased, (Joyce Fearday); Clete (Judy) of Green Creek, Illinois; Karen (Joe) Wente of Teutopolis, Illinois; Arnold (Brenda) of Green Creek, Illinois; 72 grandchildren, one stepgrandchild, 210 great-grandchildren, four stepgreat-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Mildred was a member of St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church, Green Creek, Illinois and St. Mary's Council of Catholic Women. She was always ready for a good game of Pinochle and spent many hours doing lovely embroidery work.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Tom; sons-in-law, Albert Haarmann and Art Hoelscher; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Victor, Maurice, Ferd, and infant brother, Leonard; two sisters, Ludvina Kinkelaar and Martha Nosbisch.
Mildred's family would like to extend their sincere "Thanks" to all the faithful Green Creek Meals on Wheels drivers for their many years of dedicated service, for without you, Mom wouldn't have been able to stay in her home. Your visits meant so much to her. Also, to all the nurses, aids and therapists at Heartland Christian Village for your gentle loving care.
