Soldier in the Premier Escadron d'Hussards in Lauzun's Legion a French regiment in the American War for Independence. Enlisted on 15 Jan 1779 at 18 years old. The unit formed in March 1780 from various detachments of French and many foreign volunteers in the French army and navy. General Rochambeau, arrived in Newport, R.I. on 11 Jul 1780 with 5,300 with troops including the Lauzun's Legion. Some of the Legion traveled overland through nine states to Virginia. A contingent also sailed directly to Virginia.
