Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Wednesday, November 22, 1967, page 3:
  Mrs. Laura A. Ludwig, 94, of 6146 Waterman Ave., St. Louis, Mo., died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Park Manor where she had been a patient 17 days. Formerly of Troy, she had resided in St. Louis 13 years.
  She was born in Germany, and brought to the United States at the age of nine by her parents, Lorenz H. and Ellen Maria Nielsen Schmidt. She was married to William P. Ludwig, a Methodist minister, Nov. 1, 1892. The couple moved to Troy to live after his retirement in 1930.  The Rev. Ludwig died Sept. 7, 1944.
  Surviving are one son, Albert M. Ludwig, Troy; three daughters, Mrs. Celia Aydelott, St. Louis, Mrs. Lorla Miller, Stillwater, Minn., and Mrs. Oscar (Dorothy) Gindler, Troy; 16 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
  She was a member of Grace Methodist Church, St. Louis.
  Friends may call at the Edwards Funeral Home at Troy after 3 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at the Troy Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Friday.  The Rev. Charles Tindle, pastor, and the Rev. R.H. Mornhinweg, pastor of Friedens United Church of Christ, will officiate.
  Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery.
  The family requested no flowers, stating that memorials to the church at Troy or at St. Louis would be welcomed.
