Oliver M. Thone, 74, city police officer, died suddenly of a heart attack while on duty near the city hall Saturday afternoon. Born at Albaton, Iowa, he came with his parents to Valley City when three years of age. He had been with the Valley City police force for the past 12 years. He was married to Bessie Anderson at Sheldon, Minn., on May 29, 1909.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Leone of Valley City, Roberta, Mrs. Alvin Pytlik, Valley City and Harriet, Mrs. Paul Wells of Norfolk, Va.; three sons, LeRoy and Roland of St. Paul and Harold of Ballflower, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and a brother, Julius of Valley City.
Funeral services were conducted at the Congregational Church Wednesday, May 28 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Eugene McAllister officiating. interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery under the auspices of the Valley City Masonic Lodge. Friends may call at the Hub Peterson Funeral Home.
