Mrs. Christine Boetel Dies Sunday
Mrs. Christine Boetel, 73, died Sunday following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church. Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
Surviving are six daughters, five sons, 38 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Boetel's husband preceded her in death in 1947.

MRS. CHRISTINE BOETEL
Ingeborg Christine Boetel, the daughter of Johannes and Catherine Martensen. Born April 23, 1882, in the province of Schleswig -Holstein, Germany, she came to America with her parents at the age of 7 years. They settled at Charlotte, Clinton County, Iowa.
She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Charlotte.
On January 23, 1902, she was united in marriage to Fred Boetel at Charlotte. They moved to a farm at Wyoming, Iowa, and lived there for nine years. In 1911 after two years, they bought the farm on which they lived. They remained there until February of 1946 when they moved into Hartley.
She had been in ill health for the past 9 years. She suffered a stroke on July 18 and was taken to the nursing home on July 21, and passed away on July 31 at 7:45 p.m., at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 8 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing eleven children: Mrs. Rosa Denny, Mrs. Amanda Denny of Hartley, Chris of Alcester, S. D., John of Lake Park, William, Henry and Adolph of Hartley, Mrs. Catherine Bartsch of Lewiston, Minn., Mrs. Augusta Schultz of Spencer, Mrs. Alvena Schmidt and Mrs. Ethel Schuknecht of Everly, five sons-in-law, five daughters-in-law, 38 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers and sisters, 1 son-in-law and 3 grandchildren.
She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Ladies Aid and a charter member of the Go-Getters Club of Waterford Township in Clay County.
She was a very kind and loving mother, beloved and respected by all who knew her. Her death was a great shock to all her loved ones.
