Matthias Paul Mertlich, age 77, died August 30, 1990.

He was born August 19, 1913 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Matthias Anton and Johanna Schrader Mertlich. On October 21, 1939 he married Ruth Evelyn Evans in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. His LDS Church activities include three full time and three stake missions. He was a self employed real estate broker and a successful land developer of many subdivisions in the Salt Lake valley. Paul was loved and respected by his family and many friends.

Survivors, wife, Ruth, Sandy; sons and daughter, M. Paul (Charley) Mertlich Jr. and his wife, Betty; Mrs. Bryan (Pauline) Mumford; Robert E. Mertlich and his wife, Sheri, all Sandy; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers and sister, Hyrum, Portland, Oregon; Wilford (Bill), West Valley City; Melvin A., Clearfield; Mrs. Bill (Eveline) McLachlan, Murray.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 1990, 11 A.M. in the Willow Creek LDS Stake Center, 2350 Creek Road, Sandy. Friends may call at the church Tuesday 9:30-10:45 A.M. Goff Mortuary, Funeral Directors.
