Survivors include her sons; Gerald Matthess from Orlando, Florida and Gene Matthess from Fairfax, Iowa, her twin sisters; Wilma Glandorf and Roma Glandorf both of Williamsburg, Iowa, two brothers-in-law; Walter Matthess of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and Kenny Matthess of Milan, Illinois. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lawrence Matthess.
Alma was born July 7, 1921 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Rudolf and Lidia (Doehrmann) Glandorf. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Matthess. Alma worked and retired from Rockwell Collins. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a great cook and baker and was known as the "Cookie Lady" . She had a great sense of humor and always had a smile. She was a devoted wife, mother, and sister. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
