Billy Ray Matheson, 63, of Hayesville passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at his residence. He was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County. Billy Ray was proud of being a carpenter. He was also an avid rabbit and deer hunter. Billy Ray was a devout Christian.

He was the son of the late James William and Rena Mae Ledford Matheson.

Surviving are a daughter, Becky Morrow and husband, Channon, of Murphy, NC.; a son, Johah Matheson of Hayesville, NC.; three sisters, Delores Turrell and husband, Marty; and Darlene Long, all of Hayesville, NC; and Doris Overton and husband, Billy, of Knoxville, Tenn. Surviving is a brother, Charles Matheson; and two grandchildren, Cayla and Kameron Dills.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 30, 2014 at Faith Tabernacle with Rev. Bill Dyer officiating. Interment will be in the Hayesville First United Methodist Cemetery.
