Everett Otto Schulte, age 82, of Loganville, died peacefully on Thursday morning, July 3, 2014 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo.

He was born on July 28, 1931 in Baraboo, the son of Otto and Elsie (Dettman) Schulte, of Rock Springs. Everett was a 1949 graduate of Reedsburg High School.

A blind date would lead to his marriage to Marlene Arndt on April 18, 1953. This union would last an amazing 61 years. They would soon go on to have five sons.

A hard worker, Everett began as a farmer alongside his dad. He also worked at the Rock Springs Quarry, Friede Brothers Construction where he helped the Loganville Elementary School, Thieding Construction and was a patrolman for the Township of Westfield.

Everett was a man of many community and social talents. He served on the Westfield Town Board, was a member of the St. John – Zion church council, was involved in the Sauk County Farmers Union, was a member of the Zion Lutheran Stone Church and its dartball team, a Sauk County 4-H leader and a member of the Reedsburg Historical Society board of directors.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Family gatherings were the joy in his life.

He loved holidays, fishing and hunting trips with his friends and his sons, spectating the many, many sports and musical events of his sons and his grandchildren.

One of his favorite memories was his 80th birthday when all five sons took him to watch his two favorite teams, the Chicago Cubs versus the Atlanta Braves at Wrigley Field. A few other highlights in Everett's life include winning the Henry Dunham Dartball Award, travels with Marlene to Europe and Alaska, and the Saturday night ritual of attending the Wisconsin Dells race track with Marlene and their five boys.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene; five sons: Duane Schulte, of Loganville; Glenn (Mary) Schulte, of Rock Springs; Randy (Kelly) Schulte, of Pardeeville; Terry (Cheryl) Schulte, of Mosinee and Corey (Mandy) Schulte, of Reedsburg; fifteen grandchildren: Michael, Royce, Karla, Wesley, Hunter, Brett (Katie), Joel, Cody (Katie), Kiley, Jordan, Micaela, Rachel and Bristol Schulte; Robin (Evan) Quilling and Alisha (Matthew) Beranek; two step-grandchildren: John (Kerri) Delaney and Jessica (Adam) Rowe; four great-grandchildren: Trey, Mason and Makenzie Schulte; Blake Beranek with three more due in the fall.
