Lorence Theadore Schlechte, 90, of Blanchard, Idaho, passed away June 20, 2014, in Spokane, Wash. Lorence was born December 28, 1923, in McCool Junction, Neb., to Ernest Schlechte and Helena Uffelman Schlechte. He was raised on a wheat and cattle farm. Lorence served in the Army in WWII. He married Wilma Mae McCrite, and in the 1950's they moved to Idaho, settling in the Hayden area. In 1968, Lorence and Wilma moved to Blanchard, and, most recently, to the Hauser area. Lorence loved to spend time gardening and being in the woods. He spent most of his career in the Civil Service. Lorence was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, in 2000; and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son, Raymond Schlechte, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and daughters, Esther Schlechte, of Post Falls, Idaho, and Gwen Stevens (Robert), of Hauser, Idaho; sister, Almira Duchow, of Portland, Ore., four grandchildren: Ryan Schlechte, Rachel Goins, Zach Stevens and Brittany Stevens; and three great-grandchildren: Madison Goins, and Tucker and Texana Schlechte.
-A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 12, at English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls.
