Anna Laura "Lolly" Belber
MIDDLETOWN, Del. — Anna Laura "Lolly" Belber, 74, of Middletown, Del., passed away peacefully with her family at her side Friday, July 4, 2014, at Christiana Care, Newark, Del.
She was born in Danville, Aug. 27, 1939, a daughter of the late Jacob Bauer and Elizabeth Jane Niehoff.
A 1957 graduate of Shamokin High School, she graduated from Bloomsburg State University in 1961 with a degree in teaching. After graduation she worked as an English teacher at West Deptford High School in West Deptford, N.J. Later in her career she worked as a substitute teacher in the Woodbury School District.
In 1979, she started a new career as a social worker at the Mental Health Center in Woodbury, N.J. She went on to earn her master's degree in counseling from Central Connecticut State University in 1988, and worked at RADAR that then became Midstate Behavioral Health. Lolly retired from Midstate Behavioral Health System of Meridan, Conn., in 2002.
In her spare time Lolly lived life to the fullest, enjoying knitting, reading, cooking, traveling and a new-found passion in quilting.
She will be irreplaceably missed by her children and her many friends, as well as the many people's lives she had touched over the years.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 52 years, Richard Thomas Belber; her daughter, Lisa DelRocini and her husband, Joseph, of Erial, N.J.; two sons, Rick and his wife, Joanne, of Naperville, Ill., and Mark and his wife, Michelle, of San Francisco; two brothers, William and Jacob Niehoff; four grandchildren, Kevin and Megan DelRocini and Cole and Luke Belber.
Lolly was preceded in death by her brother, Frank, and sister, Rebecca.
Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, Del. Interment will be private.
