Timothy L. Dougherty was born on the 16th of March 1954 to the late James J. and Eileen (Harrington) Dougherty in Akron and had been a Manchester resident since 1986. He was a registered nurse for Crossroads Hospice. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Marriage Encounter, and the "Survivors" Group.

Tim attended St. Vincent grade school, and graduated from Hoban High School (class of 1972), where he was the captain of the football team. Tim graduated from Kent State and The University of Akron School of Nursing. He was a kind and devoted husband to Theresa for 36 years.

Attending his children's sporting activities was one of his greatest joys, and he was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments, both on and off the playing field. Tim had a quick, spontaneous wit that his family and friends cherished and appreciated. He was a compassionate and caring nurse to all of his patients. Tim's deep faith and love of God was evident in how he lived his life.

MANCHESTER -- Timothy L. Dougherty, 60, passed away unexpectedly Monday, the 7th of July, 2014 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Tim is survived by his wife, Theresa (Bennett); children, Kevin, Carolyn, Colleen (Drew) Maglio, Chris, Craig, Kyle and Karley Dougherty; grandchildren, Carter, Jackson and Madison Dougherty, Calvin Gwinn and Luke Maglio; mother-in-law, Mary Bennett; siblings, Peggy Dougherty, Eileen Knittel, and Richard (Laura), Patrick (Lu), James (Kathie) and Sean Dougherty; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father-in-law, Joe Bennett and brother-in-law, Barry Knittel.

The family will receive friends Friday, the 11th of July from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St., Akron Ohio 44301. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
