Ollie James Zschiesche, 89, of Hamilton, Texas, died Saturday, July 12, 2014. Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, at St. John Lutheran Church Hamilton, Texas, with Pastor Keith Reich officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton, Texas.

Ollie was born in Pottsville, Texas, to the late Herbert and Amanda (Gromatzky) Zschiesche. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pottsville and remained a faithful member of St. John Lutheran all of his life. Ollie served his country, during World War II, aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S Cowpens. While aboard his own ship, he witnessed the signing of the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay upon the U.S.S Missouri.

He married Helen Ruth Endebrock on March 1, 1945, while on leave. After his discharge, they began their life in Hamilton. They had 52 years together raising their four children. Ollie worked over 40 years at Smith & Jones Implement and Cotton Gin. He ginned the last bale of cotton in 1989 silencing the production era of cotton in Hamilton County. He went to work for the Hamilton County Electric Co-op and found a second career taking care of the facility and beautifying the town of Hamilton for over 25 years. Ollie greatly loved his church, family, friends, garden and his community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; and two brothers, Milford and Carroll.

Survivors include sons: James Zschiesche, Jerry Zschiesche and wife, Kay, and David Zschiesche and wife, Jennifer, all of Hamilton; daughter, Kathy Christensen and husband, Paul, of Hamilton; grandchildren: Kyle Zschiesche and wife, Ruth, Kris Zschiesche and wife, Sarah, all of Hamilton, Katy Copeland and husband, Matt, of Stephenville, Texas, Jennifer Michalec and husband, Jonathan, of Spring, Texas, Erik Christensen, of Chicago, Illinois, Joshua Zschiesche and Matthew Zschiesche, of Hamilton; great-grandchildren: Ryder and Nolan Zschiesche, Kalen, Marin and Larsen Copeland, and Christian and Carter Michalec; sisters: Alice Hobratsch, of Plano, Texas, Frances Farley and husband, Robert, of Bedford, Texas, and Evelyn Olsen and husband, Clifford, of Georgetown; and many nieces and nephews, numerous relatives, and countless friends.
